A Few Gestures on Choosing Mobility Equipment

Living with mobility challenges – or even just getting older – doesn’t have to mean giving up your independence. It just means finding the right support and equipment so you can keep doing the things you love, safely and confidently.

At Wheelchairs on the Run, we’re here to make these decisions easier. Offering electric and manual wheelchairs to mobility scooters, walking aids, and bathroom support, our goal is to help you stay active, comfortable, and independent.

Having the right mobility aid can make a world of difference:

Manual Wheelchairs

Lightweight, affordable, and easy to transport. These can be self-propelled or pushed by a caregiver. But, keep in mind, they do require some arm strength and stamina for daily use.

Electric (Power) Wheelchairs

Controlled with a joystick or alternate device (such as head, finger, or mouth control). Many also offer adjustable seating, making it easier to recline, raise, or lower the seat for comfort and extended levels of support.

Mobility Scooters

Available in 3- or 4-wheel models, these are perfect for those who struggle with walking longer distances. They’re steered with a tiller and lever, offering stability and ease of use, bringing you greater independence.

Deciding to use a wheelchair or scooter can feel extremely daunting. But think of it like this: choosing the right mobility aid isn’t about giving up your independence, it’s about reclaiming it. If mobility challenges are keeping you from doing the things you love, the right equipment can open up your world again.
